Caramel Popcorn

This recipe comes from my favorite go to recipe book, Better Homes and Gardens. I've added my own tweaks to it so it's not exactly the same but pretty close! I've been making this for over 10 years and everytime it turns out super soft and very good.

1 c. butter (must have)
1 16 oz. pkg. (2 1/4 c.) Brown Sugar
1 can sweetened condensed milk
1 c. light corn syrup
1 t. vanilla
1 large bowl of popcorn

In a heavy 3 quart saucepan melt butter over low heat. Add brown sugar, milk, and corn syrup, mix well. Stir over medium heat until it reached a thread stage about 232 degrees (this makes it very soft and yummy) Pour over popcorn and mix well. Serve in a bowl or form balls if desired.
